School of Professional Studies

Please note the following information is for students in all graduate degree programs. Students in Undergraduate programs in the School of Professional Studies are not eligible to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program.

The School of Professional Studies is a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program).

SPS will award Yellow Ribbon grants to up to 30 graduate students who are 100% eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® VA Benefits. The maximum SPS Yellow Ribbon Grant that a student can receive is up to $1,000. The amount a student receives from SPS will be matched by the VA (not to exceed tuition and fees).

How to qualify

To qualify for the Yellow Ribbon benefit provided by the School of Professional Studies and the VA match for the applicable academic year, you must meet the following criteria. Benefits are awarded on a first come first served basis.

1. Students must be admitted to a Graduate School of Professional Studies degree or certificate program

2. Students must submit their Certificate of Eligibility from the Department of Veteran Affairs

The COE must state that you are 100% eligible for Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® benefits and it must be sent to both the SPS Registrar's Office and the Chicago Office of Financial Aid. The addresses for each office are listed below:

3. Students must officially enroll in their first quarter of coursework.

Once the student enrolls and they have completed all three steps of the first come first served policy, they may be added to the Yellow Ribbon list.

Note: Once the Yellow Ribbon list has reached its capacity of 30 students, students will be added to the Yellow Ribbon waiting list. Students will be eligible for Yellow Ribbon funding in the order they were placed on the waiting list as spots become available.
